"I consider Dagiti Bin-i ti Kimat as among the best Ilokano novels, if not the best, I've read. It is easy to read, walang paliguy-ligoy, just the right length. The first few paragraphs provide some of the most moving beginnings I have encountered in Ilokano literature. If you are familiar with 'rigat,' they'll tug at your heart. Reading them now, almost twenty-five years adter I first read the novel, still makes me well up. Dagiti Bin-i ti Kimat  is emotionally and intellectually rewarding. It has a deceptively simple plot but its narrative is rich in interpretive possibilities. I disagree with its ideological positions and have given it a robust critique in my book The Promise of the Nation, which in manuscript stage, (Manong) Cles Rambaud was asked to review for publication by Ateneo Press and to which he gave his strong endorsement. There' you have a writer who recognizes the place of critique in the growth of Ilokano literature. Any Ilokano who cares about Ilokano literature should read this novel." - Dr. Roderick Galam, Oxford Brookes University
