Beckoning Baguio: A Decade of Walking in a City of Pines

This project selects and compiles my columns in the local newspaper Baguio Chronicle from 2018 to 2020, from the year Baguio was named the country's first UNESCO Creative City, to the first year of the pandemic. The word "conceit" comes handy in belaboring this project. Perhaps easier to see is the seeming "conceit" -- in the sense of self-pride -- of this work: gather regular columns and make a book out of them. But in the sense of artistic device or turn of phrase, "conceit" can efface the first sense of the word, instead bringing into focus the thematic thrust undergirding this work.
